MediaTek Helio G90 Chipset faster Snapdragon 855plus: Overview
As you know, MediaTek single-chip systems (processor chipsets) are not particularly in demand among well-known manufacturers of smartphones, but they are still quite in demand from local Chinese manufacturers. In addition, recent actions by MediaTek clearly indicate the company’s desire to reverse the situation – once again become a prominent player in the international arena and return to the flagship SoC segment.
Recently, MediaTek outperformed Snapdragon by launching the world’s first 5G chipset i.e. Helio M70. Now, it seems, MediaTek decided to respond to the flagship SoC Snapdragon 855+ presented yesterday for gaming smartphones of the new generation. The answer to Snapdragon is in form of SoC MediaTek Helio G90, whose official premiere is expected later this month.
Unfortunately, the teaser image of the upcoming announcement of the Helio G90 does not contain specific details, except for the name confirmation, which in itself is an obvious hint at platform positioning (G is an obvious reference to Gaming). And the fact that this teaser was published immediately after the announcement Snapdragon 855+ cannot be a coincidence.
The poster also has advertising slogans. If you translate from Chinese, you get “The core of the game, the awakening of military power.” That is, nothing useful to squeeze out of them. Presumably, the MediaTek Helio G90 will be manufactured on a 7-nanometer process and will be the main for models with 5G supports.
Less than a month ago, MediaTek introduced the 12-nanometer eight-core platform Helio P65. Its configuration includes an eight-core CPU (two 2.0 GHz ARM Cortex-A75 cores and six 1.7 GHz ARM Cortex-A55 cores) and an ARM Mali-G52 GPU (820 MHz). The first smartphone on it will be the Indian version of the smartphone Vivo S1, previously debuted in China.
We would publish a complete review about MediaTek Helio P90 chipset, so stay tuned.
