Snapdragon 850 chipset for tablets and smartphones 2018
As part of the exhibition Computex 2018, Qualcomm company introduced platform Snapdragon 850, designed for laptops running Windows 10. As expected, the new chip is an analog Snapdragon 845, used in flagship smartphones this year, but with increased to 2.96 GHz clock frequencies of the Kryo 385 computing cores.
For graphics in the Snapdragon 850 meets the controller Adreno 630. There is support for HDR, dual cameras, as well as the ability to encode and decode video in 4K format. Wireless interfaces are represented by the Snapdragon X20 LTE modem with data download speed up to 1.2 Gbit / s, Wi-Fi 802.11ac 2×2 MU-MIMO modules (2.4 / 5 GHz) and Wi-Fi 802.11ad, and Bluetooth 5.0. Navigation systems like GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, and Galileo are supported. Much attention in the new chip is given to the support of artificial intelligence systems.
It is claimed that the battery life of Snapdragon 850 computers will be up to 25 hours, and thanks to Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ technology they can be quickly recharged. It is expected that the first tablets based on Snapdragon 850 will appear on the shelves this year. Samsung is also planning to launch Windows tablet based on Snapdragon 850, of course, Microsoft will also show something similar. Brands like HP, Lenovo, and Dell will also show something similar by the end of 2018, and all these devices will be powered with Snapdragon 850. Earlier there were rumors that the new Snapdragon will first appear in the Galaxy Note 9, however, now everything is clear from the brand’s end.
